What is the Union des designers mode & maison ?

In 1999, a group of fashion designers basically French , but open to European members, inspired by a desire to represent themselves and become better known in their profession by manufacturers and public authorities, decided to create a new professional organisation.

We currently have over 250 members.

Our functions and areas of interest include :

- Be present at trade fairs essential to our profession : Première Vision, Tissu premier, , Mod’Amont, Cuir à Paris, etc. in order to establish relations with the industry.

- Trough our participation on those fairs, manufacturers leaves to us there needs in fashion design employment : we provide this jobs offers to our members!

- Initiate dialogues and exchanges of information between designers (freelance and salaried), graphic designers, patternmakers, accessory designers and other professional connected with product creation or elaboration in the fashion and home decorating industries..

- Provide true legal advice to our members.

- Overcome the isolation of designers, assure a transparent communication of salary and budget information to serve as practical references within the profession.

- Be sponsored : federations, schools, trade fair organisers, lawyers, experts, fashion and interior design personalities … create bridges of transversally between industries.

- Guidance in purchase and use of textile industry software.

- Thanks to our Internet site : provide information on current activities, maintain contact, announce job offers from manufacturers. Develop a market of exchanges, of research and job offers.

- Encourage meetings between manufacturers and designers in different regions and abroad in collaboration with partners such as Chamber of Commerce, and various administrative or professional organisations.

- Organise monthly meetings featuring professionals invited to debate themes specific to our profession : establishing a contract, exporting one’s know-how, creating an attractive portfolio or a convincing resume, etc.

- Develop collaborations with schools and training centers so their programs correspond more closely with the industry’s needs. Help advance both undergraduate and graduate curriculum’s.

- Promote our profession, validate our competencies and experience in France and abroad.
